Program Overview

2.1. Program Purpose

Zero To Techie (ZTT) is a paid educational program offered by the Academy. This program uniquely blends structured academic learning with practical, hands-on experience, aiming to prepare participants for thriving careers in the rapidly evolving technology sector. It is meticulously designed to impart foundational skills across a range of technology domains, catering to the diverse needs of the industry.

2.2. Qualification Criteria

Throughout the ZTT program, participants will engage in intensive, domain-specific training. Upon completion, all participants will receive Certificates of Completion, acknowledging their dedication and learning achievements. Furthermore, outstanding performers, as evaluated by our expert faculty, based on predefined merit criteria, may be granted the opportunity to engage in additional real-world projects, offering a deeper immersion into practical technological applications.

2.3. Certification

All ZTT programs include specific industry-recognised foundational certifications. The list of mandatory certifications for each program/domain is outlined in the Appendix Section: Appendix 1. Where there is a difference in expectation, learners will be specifically informed of such prior to resuming the program; otherwise, the certifications listed in the appendix section are effectively the requirements to satisfy this clause.

Learners are expected to start preparing for their certification exams from Module Three (3) of the ZTT Program. The Learning and Development (L&D) Team at the Academy will ensure that learners are reminded around that time as per their cohorts and that the requisite materials are made available to enable their preparation.

Learners who do not meet the certification requirements by the end of Module Six (6) will be disqualified from continuing with the program.

Note that it is a mandatory requirement of the Academy's faculty that no learner is qualified for graduation without holding the required foundational certification. Learners who do not meet this requirement will not be issued a certificate of completion and will not graduate from the program. The Academy will not be liable for the inability of participants to meet the required criteria for Certification.

The Academy is not responsible for the cost of the certifications. Learners are expected to cover this cost with the providers of specific industry certifications. Although incentives such as vouchers may be offered where possible, the Academy is not under any obligation to do so, and any provisions made do not necessarily constitute a financial agreement between the learners and the Academy.

Where scholarships are given to learners for any program, they do not cover the cost of foundational certifications unless otherwise specified in writing. Learners on scholarship must arrange to pay for the requisite certifications for their program. Learners on scholarships can also access vouchers and incentives where available.

2.4. Admission

Enrollment in the ZTT program is a personal, non-transferable commitment. Admission is specific to the cohort for which the participant has enrolled and cannot be deferred or transferred to another individual or cohort.

2.5. Scholarships

The Academy may offer scholarships for some of its programmes from time to time. Learners should familiarise themselves with the conditions of the scholarship, which will be published separately. Note that the conditions of any given scholarship cannot override these Terms. Where there is a difference between the two, the contents within these Terms supersede. All learners, whether directly enrolled via a paid program or via scholarship, must agree to these Terms and abide by them.

2.6. Training Schedules

Participants will be provided with a detailed schedule outlining the dates, times, and venues (physical or virtual) for all training sessions within each module of the program. The ZTT Program comprises two schedules:

  • 2.6.1. LMS Schedule: A schedule of courses to complete on the Academy's Learning Management System (LMS)
  • 2.6.2. ILS Schedule: A schedule of Instructor-Led Sessions (ILS), which is mandatory for all learners to attend

The schedule of courses to complete on the LMS (i.e., the LMS Schedule) either precedes the latter (the ILS Schedule) or both can be released at the same time by the L&D Team, where/when appropriate. If the LMS Schedule is published first, then the ILS Schedule is expected to be published within a week thereafter to ensure learners have sufficient time to plan for attendance.

The learners should commence their learning immediately when the LMS Schedule is published, in a self-paced style, such that they are ahead of the ILS schedule. This ensures they cover crucial content before attending the instructor-led sessions and therefore achieve the expected outcome/benefit of the sessions.

For the ZTT program, the Academy commits to delivering at least three instructor-led sessions during each module as follows:

  1. A kick-off session will introduce the module and provide guidance on how to complete it.
  2. A Recap and Q&A session towards the end of the module to clarify concepts learned, as well as answer questions learners may have.
  3. A Wrap-up session to close out the module. Additional questions from learners will be answered during this session, as well.

In addition to the three sessions described above, the Academy's faculty, at its discretion, may make provisions for additional instructor-led sessions. Where these are made available, learners should make adequate arrangements to attend them. The schedule will be published well in advance to enable learners to prepare accordingly.

Ad-hoc and On-Demand Sessions

The Faculty or any member of the Academy team may elect to offer an ad-hoc session to learners. These sessions are separate from the formal sessions documented above. Examples include:

  • A Faculty Lead currently working on a particular project (e.g., an internal Product or a customer deliverable) may wish to give current learners the opportunity to participate and gain hands-on experience.
  • An on-demand session scheduled as a result of feedback from learners via Slack or elsewhere (email, etc.).
  • Chill & Chat Sessions – an open session where learners discuss topics within and beyond their learning curriculum in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.

Ad-hoc and On-demand sessions are not mandatory. Learners are not required to attend them. For clarity, they do NOT replace or substitute for formal ILS sessions either. Where possible, learners are encouraged to attend them as they have proven to be very beneficial in past cohorts.

Note that due to the commercially sensitive nature of some of the ad-hoc sessions/projects, learners may be required to sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) and be properly vetted before being allowed to participate in them.

2.7. Program Duration and Structure

The ZTT program is structured into distinct modules, each encompassing a series of self-paced courses accessible through our Learning Management System (LMS) and a set of instructor-led sessions (ILS). Participants are expected to diligently follow the learning plans for each module, which include completing a predetermined number of courses within the timelines specified by the faculty.

2.8. Hands-On Projects

The Zero to Techie program includes practical, real-world projects. These projects enable learners to apply the concepts and tools learned in an impactful manner. While engaging in these projects, participants are encouraged to share their learning experiences publicly as students of the Academy (via blogs, social media, etc.).

Such representations should not imply employment or official representation of the Academy or CIL. Any misrepresentation in this regard can lead to the termination of the participant's involvement in our programs.
3

Obligations of the Academy

4

Obligations of the Participants

4.1. Impersonation and Misrepresentation

Participants are strictly prohibited from misrepresenting themselves as staff or official representatives of the Academy or CIL. It should be clearly understood that participation in the training program is solely for educational and skill development purposes. This program does not constitute a recruitment exercise and does not imply or confer any rights or guarantees of employment with the Academy, CIL or its affiliated entities.

4.2. Identification – Mandatory Profile Picture Requirement on Slack

To foster a connected, professional, and secure learning environment, displaying a clear and appropriate profile picture in our Official Slack workspace is mandatory for all program participants. By enrolling in this program and agreeing to these terms of engagement, you agree to the following:

4.2.1. Requirement

A profile picture must be uploaded to your Slack profile within the first 72 hours of joining the cohort channel.

4.2.2. Purpose

The profile picture should help other participants identify you within the program channels.

4.2.3. Prohibited Content

The following are strictly prohibited: media that contain explicit, offensive, or inappropriate content.

4.2.4. Compliance

For clarity, the Academy team may refuse to communicate with you or respond to your messages if this requirement is not met.

4.3. Attendance and Engagement

The following are required from the ZTT participants:

  1. Participation in the induction ceremony is compulsory, and all enrolled participants are required to attend it. The induction ceremony is a crucial component of the program, providing essential information and setting the tone for the learning journey. Absence from the induction program, without prior written consent from the Academy, will automatically result in the forfeiture of the admission.
  2. Participants are required to attend all scheduled training sessions promptly and actively participate in the program.

4.4. Communications & Community – Slack (The Official Channel)

Slack is the official channel of communication for all learners. All Learners are required to track, engage with, and maintain communications & community via Slack. It is highly recommended that all learners install Slack on their mobile devices and turn on notifications. The following examples are non-exhaustive but listed for clarity:

  1. The L&D administrators are not required to send calendar invites to learners for ILS and other sessions. All learning sessions will be announced on Slack.
  2. Learners can and should frequently post their progress and challenges in Slack. This enables discussion and, in most cases, provides active feedback on progress with the program.
  3. Learners can and should tag Academy Faculty members when they post so as to gain their attention where necessary.
  4. Additionally, all learners are allowed to send messages (DMs) to members of the Faculty anytime, subject to compliance with the communications guidelines as specified in these Terms or shared outside of it.

4.5. Communications & Community – Other Channels outside of Slack

Learners have also been known to create communities in WhatsApp, Telegram, and other mediums. We understand these can be beneficial to them outside of the Academy for various reasons. However, it is important to note that these are not official channels of communication as per the program's terms and guidelines; therefore, learners should exercise caution when participating in those channels. The Academy bears no responsibility for the content, practices, or outcomes of such external channels.

4.6. Punctuality
